Wavelength
Wavelength λ is the distance between successive compressions (or rarefactions). It is related to speed and frequency by v = fλ.

Wavelength and the wave equation
Wavelength (λ) is the distance over which the wave shape repeats—e.g. from one compression to the next. The fundamental relation is v = fλ: wave speed = frequency × wavelength. So if speed is constant, increasing frequency decreases wavelength.
✔ Key takeaway: v = fλ; wavelength is the spatial repeat distance of the wave.
